Classes and Open Studio

These are just some of the core classes we have to offer! We also have held classes in clay sculpture, pendant making, lighting sconce making and more!

are designed to get you to a good level of proficiency in the shortest amount of time. You may want this class as a refresher even if you have taken it before.

Beginning Potter's Wheel Classes

Continuing Potters Wheel Classes
are for improving your skills on the wheel. Effective centering, improving your ability to achieve what you want. Larger bowls, plates, covered jar or a casserole, or a tea pot are some projects for this class. Pulling handles with confidence for mugs and pitchers are some of our goals.
Slab, coil and pinch your way to some beautiful and very functional pottery without having to master the potter’s wheel! Simple to complex projects are possible. Beginner or experienced, we can get you started!

Classes during holidays or school breaks are FUN and great to do with a group of friends!
Regularly scheduled or call us to plan one.

Ongoing Activities

...are good, not-so-clean fun classes that we can do with you anytime by appointment!
CLASSES: What You Get
Each class comes with one Open Studio Session per class: 4 Week Classes consists of 4, 3 hour instructional classes, 4 Open Studio Sessions, all of your Clay (up to a full bag for a 4 week class) as well as all of your glazes and firing fees. We have found that Open Studio practice is essential for success! Classes are offered seasonally Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer, or class schedules can be customized for your group! Class size is small ( just 3 to 6 students) and we work “one-on one” as much as possible! Please read our registration and refund policy.
OPEN STUDIO TIME is for those of you with clay experience to use the Pottery in Paradise Studio potter’s wheels, slab roller and other equipment to work on your own clay creations independently. Sometimes you will have the studio all to yourself but at other times you’ll be sharing the Open Studio with people of various levels of experience working side by side.

Our general requirements to participate in Open Studio are a level of proficiency to work independently and be 16 years of age or older. On the potter’s wheel this means to be able to center 2 lbs of clay and “throw” a 3” tall cylinder without help. For sculpture and hand-building you need to know how to put your project together so that it can survive the firing and not blow up and destroy someone else’s project! If you are taking a class, open studio time is to practice the skills you are learning. It doesn’t mean you will succeed at first!

Ask about our 6 or 12 session Membership Punch Card which can be shared with your partner or family.

CLAY AND OTHER STUFF... We sell high fire stoneware (CONE 10) and porcelain as well as low fire red earthenware. Firing Services are part of that clay “package” or can be purchased separately. “Studio cubby” storage spaces are availableby the month. New! Clay Tools for sale to add to your tool box.
